The German automaker will build only 5 thousand copies of a special version of the “charged” Volkswagen Golf GTI hatchbacks, timed to coincide with the 45th anniversary of the modification.
Although the all-wheel-drive R version is considered the top-end in the Volkswagen Golf lineup, the automaker decided to finalize the GTI modification, turning it into a new flagship. It gets almost the same power as the Golf R, but doesn’t have rear-wheel drive. The latest version of the Clubsport was introduced last year, and this year the Clubsport 45 comes out, an even more special version to mark the 45th anniversary of the hot hatch.
The outside of the Clubsport 45 is very similar to the regular model. It has large air intakes and a large rear spoiler for extra downforce. But the jubilee Golf received unique black 19-inch wheels with red stripes, as well as a hexagonal stripe and special edition decals on the sides. The interior also received a 45 badge on the steering wheel.
The engine does not differ from the regular Clubsport and produces 296 hp. power and 295 Nm of torque. Power continues to be sent via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic to an electronically controlled limited-slip differential. However, the Clubsport 45 comes standard with the Race package, which adds a sport exhaust and removes the top-speed limiter.
This modification will be exclusive to Europe and will be built in only 5,000 pieces. The base price for it in Germany is 47,790 euros, which is about 2,500 euros less than the Golf R estimates. If we translate the price into rubles, the Clubsport 45 will be just over 4.28 million rubles.
